What is your pet policy?
In general, we have a no-pet policy. However, we occasionally make exceptions, so please inquire.
What is your policy on children?
State & federal laws prohibit housing discrimination based on family size/composition. In other words, children & families are welcome!
How much is the security deposit?
We ask for a deposit equal to one month's rent, due when you sign the lease.
How do I pay my rent or security deposit?
We prefer electronic payments if possible. We currently accept SquareCash, ClearXchange, and PopMoney. You can also set up direct electronic payments through your bank. We also accept checks or money orders made payable to "Rixa Freeze."
How long is the lease term?
We offer one-year leases (10-month leases possible with the two studio apartments). Most leases end/renew on June 30th.
How do I reserve an apartment?
We cannot reserve apartments until we receive a signed lease and security deposit. Move quickly if you would like to rent an apartment.
How far are your apartments from Wabash College? Downtown?
209 S Grant Ave is a half-block from campus on a quiet residential street and four blocks from downtown. 402 S Washington is one block from downtown and four blocks from Wabash College.
What utilities do I pay?
You pay electricity. You will also pay for gas if you rent apartment A or D at 209 S Grant Ave. We pay everything else--water, sewer, hot water, & wifi.
What are average utility costs for the apartments?
Please contact us for details, since each apartment differs. We had all attic areas professionally insulated in order to keep your utility costs as low as possible.
Do you provide internet?
Yes! Both apartment buildings include free fiberoptic wifi from Metronet.
Are there laundry facilities?
There is a laundry room available to all tenants at 209 S Grant Ave, including cupboards for storing your laundry supplies.
Apartments 1 & 2 at 402 S Washington St. both come with washers and dryers. The only apartment that does not have laundry facilities is the studio at 402 S Washington St. (Apt. 3). There is a laundromat 1 block away at Valero.
Where can I park?
There is off-street parking at 209 S Grant Ave. Tenants of Apt. A park in the front driveway (2 spaces). Tenants of apartments B-E park in the rear parking area, accessed via an alleyway. Apartment D includes use of the 2-car garage.
402 S Washington St. has on-street parking, either in front of the house (Washington St.) or along the side (Jefferson St.).
Who are the other tenants? Is it a quiet building?
Most of the apartments in both buildings are rented by Wabash faculty & staff, with the occasional student or intern in the studios. We work hard to ensure that both buildings are quiet--no loud music or wild parties!
When is garbage/recycling day? Where do I put it?
402 S Washington St: Monday morning. Place near the curb on Jefferson St.
209 S Grant Ave: Tuesday morning. Please near the front curb. To keep flies & smells away from the entry door, please store your trash & recycling bins along the south side of the house (behind the garage).
If your apartment does not come with a recycling bin, you can contact the Crawfordsville Sanitation Department to obtain a replacement. Click here for details on what items you can recycle.
Can I paint my apartment a different color?
We have an anti-white/anti-boring-beige policy: we love decorating our apartments in beautiful warm colors. If the walls need repainting due to scuffs or dings, please let us know and we will be happy to apply a fresh coat. However, we ask that you do not paint anything yourself.
